Ningombam Bupenda Meitei was born on 6th April,1987 in the then Imphal, the capital city of Manipur. He received his early education in his hometown Imphal and subsequently moved to study in Delhi, Chennai and Dehradun. He is considered to be a voracious English debator , unanimous students' leader and a good dramatist on the stage in his school days. A socialite who is a great admirer of Shri. Pt. Jahawarlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India is currently involved in writing. He is often taken as a man of humour with a strict sense of discipline, right from his days as a military school student in Sainik School.

He is an alumnus of Don Bosco High School, Imphal, Sainik School Imphal, Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 Lamphel,Imphal. He studied in Don Bosco High School, Imphal from nursery to class-V and left the missionary school to study in Sainik School Imphal, the only public school in the state . He was transformed along with the discipline military residential lifestyle with elitism and comradeship in the Sainik School. He held the highest rank (Cadet's Sergeant Major) in NCC, Army, Junior Division of Sainik School Imphal. He played hockey and represented the school in East Zone Inter Sainik Schools Meet in 2002. After passing his matriculation with 87.8% in CBSE from Sainik School Imphal, he changed his school to Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 Lamphel,Imphal (the school which carries the glorious fame in the state as "Toppers' School" ) where he did his higher secondary schooling and passed out from his third school by scoring 90% in CBSE in class XII of science stream (Maths,Physics,Biology,Chemistry and English) by 95.33% in natural sciences (Physics=94,chemistry=94,biology=96,maths=92).

He held various appointments and responsibilities while he was a student in all of his three prestigious schools in Manipur . He represented his schools in various ways at the regional and the national levels too.He attended the CSIR PROGRAMME ON YOUTH FOR LEADERSHIP IN SCIENCE (CPYLS)in 2002 on the invitation by the then Regional Research Laboratory, Jorhat while he was studying in Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 Lamphel,Imphal. He also represented Manipur in the Young Environmentalists' Conference held in National Bal Bhawan in New Delhi while he was in class XI in his second school.

Born to a great grandaughter of Maharaja Surchandra (1890s) of Manipur and also a descendant of the ancestral Meitei King Khui Ningomba who ruled the then Kingdom of Manipur from the Kangla, this Napoleanic man believes in what most of the stephanians believe inside the Parliament of India and the belief is none other than the immortal relevance of Indian National Congress' role in the development of our nation "India" or "Bharat". Educated truely in the residence under Dr.D.E.V Baker in St.Stephen's,this ex-stephanian (taking the inspiration from the way how Rahul Gandhiji is acknowledged as an ex-stephanian) is a Nehruvian who has a great admiration of Smt.Indiraji and the Nehru's scions. Degrees hardly have any significance in a man who has a passion of wisdom till eternity, its the love of wisdom that great statesman like Nehruji had longed for since his days at Harrow and Cambridge despite his 2nd class degree after changing the subject.

This diminutive man of humour still maintains the very old tradition of every Indian who loves the traditional folk songs which characterise the very strong essence of any civilised language of todays. A writer and a poet since schooldays,he is known to his close frens for his innumerable "letters" which (un)fortunately are all (not even leaving a single one! in the post box required) kept closed in his library.

He went to St.Stephen's College, Delhi to study Physics but left the college after studying 2nd years purely on his own.A very slow learning physics student in St.Stephen's College, Delhi,he was personally encouraged and recommended by the then college Vice-Principal Dr.Horace Jacob,a man of particle physics who worked on Trineutron by giving his physics books and making informal meetings for him (Bupenda) even with a few imminent physics professors before he (Dr.H.Jacob) left the college due to his health constraints in his (Bupenda's) late 1st year of his first college. He was also very much inspired in his days in St.Stephen's College, Delhi by his classical mechanics teacher Dr.Vikram Vyas who established the connection between the multigrid algorithms and the real-space renormalization group to become a physicist.

Formerly,an IISc Young Science Fellow (2005),after attending the first phase of the fellowship programme,he didn't join his already assigned project in particle physics under Dr. B. Ananthanarayan of IISc who himself selected him (Bupenda) to be his project student after attending to his (Bupenda's) paper presentation on "The Journey of Particle Physics" in the Lecture Hall in IISc and as a CSIR Student Associate (2004-06),conferred by CSIR India,he did his project in Computational and Theoretical Fluid Dynamics Division of the National Aerospace Laboratories in Bangalore under a senior scientist E-1 Dr.Rangachari Kidambi of CTFD,NAL.He was honoured as a first recipient of CSIR Student Associateship from North East Institute of Science & Technology, Jorhat, Assamin 2004.

His leaving of St.Stephen's College, Delhi in the mid of his B.Sc(Honours) Physics 2nd year University exam is often criticised with a sarcasm that the reason being his failure in the said exam . The reality is still a "mystery" as he was said to be trying to get admitted afresh in the Philosophy Department of the college though it was not approved by his parents . His interest changed from physics to philosophy while he was in his late 1st year as a stephanian , he used to join Philosophy society of the college to discuss the "Philosophy of Science" and "Philosophy of Mind" in his 1st and 2nd years in the college. His interest in physics was also distracted by his active participation in the college election . In his first year undergraduate, he was an informal advisor of the campaign for the then President of St.Stephen's Students' Union , L.Sailo who is the grandson of the Brig.T.Sailo ,the former Chief Minister of Mizoram . In his 2nd year, he was the first and only man from the residence to support the first lady President Maya John of the college though ,he later changed his camp from her's to the one supported by Chandy Oommen (son of the former Kerala Congress Chief Minister) who also later became the President of the college . He was also instrumental in bringing victory to the success of R.K.Banerjit (who was also his Sainik School Imphal's 3 years senior who later joined the Indian Army as a commissioned officer) , the then President of Manipur Students' Association Delhi in the election held in New Delhi in 2005 .His informal meetings on courtesy calls with a few senior bureaucrats and dignitaries in North and South Blocks in New Delhi and his active participation in the informal discussions with diplomats and national politicians , which used to be a routine informal business in St.Stephen's College, Delhi compelled him to loose his grip over his actual physics degree.Having been stayed in his 1st year in the room , which was once occupied by the former Pakistani President Gen. Zia Ul Haque in the All Nutt North Block of the college , he spent his time with different people learning different philosophies in Delhi .

After leaving St.Stephen's College, Delhi, he went down to South India to look for the alternatives for his life in Chennai. He spent his enoyable moments with idli ,sambar and dosa with Hyderabadi thali for a few months near Marina Beach in Chennai and he left the metropolitan city despite his approved admission both in pyschology honours and physics honours in Presidency College, Chennai, the college which he dreamt to study after leaving Delhi .Then, he went and settled in Doon valley .

Later in his life, he recieved his university gold medal in B.Sc (Physics,Maths,Statistics) from an Indian central university. He enjoys reading Western Philosophy and Tagore's works.

He is an Indian English writer and has been a poet from his days in Sainik School. He is currently penning down his small novel "Blind Beauty" and eyeing on his next one "When butter becomes hard".
